WHY SUPPORT NEW DAY?

Because we need your help!

In 2013, New Day Repertory Company will celebrate its 50th anniversary. For forty-nine years New Day has been devoted to bringing year-round professional theatre to audiences throughout the Hudson Valley. The Company has been committed to providing a quality experience for actors and audiences that is intellectually challenging, provocative, socially relevant and culturally enriching.

New Day performs both the classics and serious contemporary works on its City of Poughkeepsie-based Resident Stage and through its Touring Theatre Program. As we approach our 50th season, the Company remains dedicated to producing theatre that promotes racial harmony by speaking to the universal human experience.

Our outreach to schools and community centers, and to economically disadvantaged and culturally underserved communities in the Mid Hudson Valley and surrounding areas is at the heart of New Day's mission. Our programs have been synonymous with excellence and we work tirelessly to ensure that each generation of students continues to make a worthwhile contribution to the creative arts.

In keeping with its goal of providing professional training and performance opportunities for all actors, the Company has evolved into a well-recognized pioneer in the area of non-traditional casting. We have held stedfast to the value of nurturing and enriching the talents of extraordinary local people– people who have gone on to make major contributions to the cultural heritage of Hudson Valley and the world beyond.

But it comes at a cost: we need to raise most of the cost for our programs from box office sales and private sources. In the past, New Day has been funded in part by NYSCA's Theatre and Special Arts Services Departments, The Dutchess County Arts Council/Arts Fund, The Dyson Foundation and the Community Foundation of Dutchess County. Lately, funding from these sources has become increasingly difficult, practically has ground to a halt.

Moving forward we plan to expand our fundraising efforts to include a host of income generating activities to include short courses, box office sales, donations from individuals and private companies, corporate sponsorship, trusts and foundations and legacies.

If you would like to support New Day’s continuing contribution to the creative arts, this is where we need your help:

• Donations (tax deductible)

• Volunteers
• Drama instructors
• Marketing & Outreach
• Fundraising

Our goals can only be achieved through the generous support of people like you who are passionate about the arts, education, and the Dutchess County community. When you support New Day, not only are you making an investment into our community’s arts and culture scene, but you’re also contributing to education, youth programs and community initiatives.

On behalf of New Day Repertory Company board of directors and staff, we want to thank you for your continued support of our organization and programs. Your financial contributions enable us to broaden our programs and enrich our community.
